Paris conference, bid to improve France's int'l face

Aide to Iranian foreign minister, Hossein Sheikholeslam says a Palestinian ‘peace’ conference in Paris was held in a bid to restore France’s face in the eyes of the public opinion.

“France seeks to create a space in the international scene through the conference,” he told the Qods News Agency (Qodsna).

Sheikholeslam touched on the absence of both the PA and Israel in the conference and said an international conference where none of the conflicting parties are present would go to nowhere.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed the international conference in Paris as “futile.”

“It was coordinated between the French and the Palestinians with the aim of imposing upon Israel conditions that are incompatible with our national needs,” Netanyahu said.

The presence and the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories have been among the main reasons behind the collapse of the last round of Israeli-Palestinian talks in April 2014.

The Tel Aviv regime has defied international calls to stop its unauthorized construction activities in the occupied lands.
