UN resolution, a PR stunt

A senior Iranian researcher in Palestinian issue says the recent UN resolution against the Israeli settlement building showed how the west is angered by the Israeli conduct against the frequent western condemnation of the settlements.

"The resolution does not mean the west has changed its position against the Israeli occupation or expansionist policies rather it is a response to those humiliations," Mohammad Taqi Taqipour told the Qods News Agency (Qodsna).

Taqipour called the resolution a public relations stunt by the west in a bid to put up a superficially independent position.

"The US too is at pains to show an independent position in the eyes of the public opinion concerning the Israeli settlements," he said, touching on the pro-Israeli lobby pressures in the US.
