Turkey’s policies, threat to regional peace

Italian Professor Claudio Moffa has acknowledged that many western news sources produce ambiguity over the political developments in the Middle East, including the rise of the ISIS terror group.

Moffa was answering questions posed by the Qods News Agency (Qodsna) in an email interview.

Asked about the Palestinian issue, the professor touched on a recent visit to Egypt by a Hamas delegation and considered it as “an attempt to one side of the Mukhabarat (the Egyptian secret service) to re-weave relations with the Palestinian movement, and maybe, even with themselves Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt.”

In another regard, Moffa slammed Hamas for its conduct towards the Syrian crisis I the early stages of the war in the country.

The Italian analyst said Hamas dived into the war without taking into account that the Isis and the same "rebels" or so-called "moderates" that claim to overthrow the legitimate president Assad, were receiving weapons and financial aid not only from Arab countries such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia but also from Western intelligence services and Israel.

“The error of a Hamas consisted in not understanding that the war in Syria is functional to the usual "strategy of chaos" which Tel Aviv pursued since 1948 - through wars of aggression (also by proxy: Iraq in 1991 and 2003) and supporting internal rebellions to sovereign and independent states of the region,” he wrote.

The analyst also downplayed the Saudi position towards the ISIS terror group as an effort to counter the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Saudi Arabia has so far claimed to form an alliance of states theoretically anti-Isis and actually mainly anti-Iranian, speculating on the differences between Sunnis and Shiites that unlike Riyadh, Tehran has never considered and indeed has always tried to contain,” he said.

“A true jack of Saudi position against criminals Daesh passes for the abandonment of a policy of hostility against Syria, Iran and Iraq, sovereign countries who rightly oppose wars attempt by Israel to attempts at internal destabilization, and the cancellation of existing borders pursued by Daesh,” he said.

Asked about Turkey’s position, the analyst called the policies of the sitting government in Turkey a threat to the regional peace.

“Erdogan's Turkey is a danger to peace in the Middle East (resource trade-theft of neighboring countries, and support for ISIS) and in the world, see the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of refugees from the wars from Turkey itself fed, to European countries,” he said.

The analyst also praised Iran as a sincere backer of the Palestinian issue despite the verbal but empty lip services of many other regional states.

“I remember the way a visit to Tehran by the Minister of Palestinian culture, which to a conference a few years ago I was fortunate to attend, and that was a clear sign that Shiite Iran looked and looks unity and not the division of all Muslims, privileging the political fact that Hamas is not a terrorist organization but - like Hezbollah - is a national liberation movement that fulfills the need for acts of terrorism against an occupying power,” he said.
